unexpected purchase
      #87919 - 28/10/07 04:57 PM

G'day everyone,

Just brought home a secondhand Ruger M77 RSI in 250 savage. Have been on the lookout for a trim little rifle in this calibre for a few years now and happened upon this one at an interstate gunshop.

Should be fun. I will top it off eventually with blued low Ruger rings and a Leupold compact 2-7 scope.

What tricks does anyone have with reguards to the bedding of these rifles.

I intend to also only use one load hopefully using 90gr sierra gamekings.

Cheers,
Mark.

Try it first.

Many if not most RSIs will hold MOA out of the box.

Depends what you want to do with it, but they are a handy hunting rifle pure and simple, so MOA is plenty good enough.

Otherwise, the impulsive tinkerers often bed the lug and the full barrel channel according to the other shooting forums. I wouldn't though, unless it was giving trouble as-is.

If I ever see one in 7x57 with no "dick-head damage" I'd grab it in a heart-beat.

Photos of Marrakai with a scoped bolt-rifle are rare, but I was quite impressed with this one belonging to a friend's wife, which I put to good use on a recent cull:

I rececently purchased a 77RSI in .257 Roberts, all stainless hardware/walnut.......haven't fired it yet but, have received all of the components I ordered, so it's about time to work up a load or two. I have a Trijicon scope for mine.

Yeah Marrakai, This one is used but the rifle and bedding are still origonal. Don't want a varmint rifle, just got it for an all-round carry rifle. Everything from rabbits to goats and pigs and maybe even one of the fallow wandering around here next rut!!

Cheers,
Mark.
