Added another lady to my safe.

Francotte Hunter Model Double Rifle .470 NE

Picked her up at Cabelas for well below the asking price. Upon visual inspection, the barrels were better than described. Also, it does appear to my untrained eye that the rifle has not been refinished anywhere. The stock may have had some recent oil put on it, but the checkering looks original as do the case colors. The barrels show very strong rifling along the entire length with minimum wear in the grooves.

It is off to JJ for a full inspection.

Cal./Gauge: .470 Nitro Express
Barrel(s): 26"
Weight: 11:lbs.
Sights/Scope: Changeable metal front bead, 3 Leaf folding rear
Trigger(s): Double with extractors,Thumb saftey
Stock: Checkered pistol grip with cap box
Stock Dimensions: LOP:14" With 5 7/8" Tall Recoil pad
Fore End: Splinter checkered with Deeley release
Metal Condition: Good with some wear and minor scratches, no rust or pitting
Wood Condition: Very good solid dense wood
Bore Condition: Very good +
Removable Hinge Pin

Very nice rifle. I have a Auguste Francotte, number 79703, in 450 NFB that looks very much like yours but weights 6 1/2 pounds.

Very nice rifle Clark, well done!
Going on the photos showing the proofs, can anyone here tell what date it was proofed?
If so, please let us know us how you can tell.
I'm trying to date a belgian rifle with similar stamps to those in the pics.
TIA for any dating info on belgian proofmarks.
