I shot this yesterday. The load is 159grs H-4350 W/ a Woodleigh 900SP @ 2200+ fps. The bullet penetrated 4.5' of water jugs and stopped in the last one expanding to 1.395" & weighs 889grs yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpMUQ5Bz3ag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=De8QIMsi6dE

that looked like a lot of fun, it seems like it had a BIT of recoil in it

Damn, that bullet just about turned itself inside-out. I'd opt for a bit less expansion, myself. Was that a muzzle-brake on it?

Pete, The recoil really isn't that bad. When you see me step back, I'm just moving w/ the recoil. I've shot harder felt-recoil rounds. If you look closely the recoil is straight back w/ no muzzle rise & slap until I roll with it. I feel this rifle felt-recoils much more comfortably than a faster round like the 505 or the heavy Weatherby's. Big & slow is more comfotable than small & fast IMHO plus the impact is spectacular.
475, I agree---when I go after the truely heavy stuff, I will use a harder bullet. This wouldn't be my bullet of choice for buff.

Personally, I'd be thrilled with 4 1/2 feet of penetration coupled with expansion like that on a buff.
Remember too that the recommended impact velocity range for this bullet is a fair bit less than that generated by the Overkill cartridge. Even so, Geoff has apparently toughened some of these bullets up a bit for you US speed-freaks, the 650gr .577 RNSN being a case in point. For buffalo in particular, I prefer massive expansion provided there is no weight-loss. That's why I choose a soft.
