Peter

And so you should show it off !!!

Top stuff and thanks for posting.

What did it score - the palms
look great and it seems to have
everything else it's supposed to
(ie BTG's).

VERY VERY nice buck! And I LOVE the big bore lever action you used! A very "non-european" choice of weapons I think.

Best,

John

it scored 157,1 dont know after which system but thats a solid silver, a friend of mine did the mount and we met up at a hunting fair where there was a jugde that evalueted it. so 157,1

it is wide at the palms 5"+ and is very symetrical all in all, it is a wall hanger that im proud of

Not sure what we use over here - I think the SCI system
where anything over 200 is a good head.

I'm not a trophy hunter so it's not a great
thing for me, I just like to collect a nice
representative head if I can. I'm also not a fan
of mounts of MY walls so they end up outside.

I have a suspicion that your head would score over
200+ here - maybe NitroX could help on this - so
I'll email the pics to someone else to get an
opinion.

Peter

Came back with an answer of maybe up to
245 Douglas Score so it is well up there.

It looks it as well.

In Australia we usually use the Douglas score system which is a system created in and used a lot in Australia, NZ and the South Pacific.

200 or more points using the Douglas score system is usually regarded as the start of a good trophy.

I do not know the SCI system. One day I will have to attend a scorers course. But I don't know the scores of any of my wall hangers either, I hunt for fun but don't mind taking something nice.
That fallow buck is very nice trophy. If I chanced upon him in the wild he would be on my wall too. The first photo shows the antlers have a good amount of weight. It is also very even. The palms in the second photo are full and un-clefted and the palms nice and wide. The whole head is resonably wide.

No doubt under the DS system he is well over 200 points and a nice trophy.

And if he took sixty hunting days to take, he is well earned and a true hunting trophy to boot. Displayed on the wall with pride I think.

The rifle used is certainly one un-expected for Denmark. Maybe usually used on driven boar perhaps?!

My Apologies.

I said we use the SCI method which we don't, we use the Douglas Score Method as John correctly pointed out.

Anyway, it's a fine trophy by any means,
regardless of Score.

it was just one of those offers that i got when i spend a lot of time in gunshops, and my inner cowboy just dident allow me to let it go. fair price to, got it for around 100$.
i used it mostly for close up hunting in danish forest which it does very well. we dont have boar in denmark for hunting because we are the worlds largest pig producing nation and the goverment got strong armed by the farmers so everything got shot away
But it does nice work on deer i dont like it when the animals run away after i have shot them so the caliber is good for roedeer that has to stay there.
oohh it is good for fallow as well

Fantastic, Peter!

Both the interesting rifle choice and the lovely buck!
