Looking on http://geneal42.free.fr/Site/histoire/fabricants/armes.htm I have found 1 match:
Heurtier 28 Rue Clément Forissier Saint-Etienne

Maybe they can help you.

On other sites, you find references to "canons Heurtier", so maybe they are barrel makers.

well if it gets here fast enough, it can be broken in at danish species. The deer season runs until january and i think 9,3-74 will kill roedeer just as dead as with any other rifle i got, maybe even better that some.
i even got an offer to go to sweden to play with the pigs that is on my friends place, the only condition was to bring lots of ammo and more than one rifle since the down time in the midday will be spendt shooting at fun stuff, he really took a fancy to my alex henry and cant wait to shoot it, well neither can i.

well i got it at last.

it got home thursday, and i went out to try it a bit today. weather was not optimal for shooting strong gushing sidewinds but at least it did'nt rain.

i had 2 different ammo types to try it with:

this was a 293 grns rws tug softpoint going at 2280 fps.

this was a 286 grns browning softpoint no idea about the speed. yes i pulled the last shot with the wind.

so next thing is the scope mount and a scope so i can get some decent work into this gun.
i think i might try the 245 grns i got in the stash.

best regards

peter

Peter, nice rifle and nice shooting!!

Are the sights a wide V/Bead? Where are you holding on the bull? i.e., 6 o'clock or covering the bull with the front bead? Looks like it'll only take a light tap of the hammer will put windage dead on, assuming that most of the left windage is made by the wind on the gun not the wind on the bullets. At 50m, I suspect the wind isn't playing too much with the bullets though it might be pushing the gun sideways? Will be interested to see POI at 100 also.

Looks like the 293 and 286 grain loads print very close to same POI also!!

What is the "Browning" ammo you refer to? Is that the old Black and Gold box stuff or a new load? Does Browning still market new ammo in Europe? Who loads it for them?

Did you find out any more history on the gun, as in when it was made, etc?

Nice job!

hi 9,3

the sights are a bit strange to me. bead front sight, square notch rear sight so it is hard for me to see where this bead should go. the rear sight will be replaced with a rechnagel sight during this summer. i cover the target with the bead.

the gun was pushed by the wind so i tryed to wait it out and shoot between wind gusts.

i couldent see any difference between the loads poi so that should be good, it will be fun to see where the 245 grns will go.

the browning stuff is the black and gold boxes, about them market new ammo in EC i dont know but will check.

according to a frence guy from my wifes family the gun was made in st. etienne in the 195? he said that we could go talk with people there when i come during the summer for a family weding.

great fun toy, everybody should have one.

How far away was your target Peter? 50 or 100 M?
Also, what did the rifle cost?

targets are from 50 meters, and it is terrible shooting and all my fault, but the rifle will shoot fine once i do my part, and the triggers have been honed a bit.

i paid all in all 3500$ for it

Hey Peter

If I'd known that you were going to spray bullets all over the place then we would have stopped off and shot it before we handed it over

hey mark

you know that the spray and pray way, was the reason they made dbl. rifles in the first place

it was indeed a lousy performance, and i will try to do better next time, or go to a bigger caliber.

best

peter

friday is the start of danish roebuck season, and it wont be the rifle that would be at fault if i dont get any bucks.

What scope did you put on this nice little French lady? The rifle seems to enjoy the 245 gr loads. Who makes the cartridge with this weight bullet?
She is a classy looking piece.
Thanks for the story. Can't wait to see the roedeer you take with it.

thanks all

it does seem to like the 245 grains a lot, so i have to find some bullets in that weight class.

the scope is an old german steel tubed 2,5 x 24 and it looks alright on it.

if the roedeer will work with me, then you will be the first to see it, just have to wait till friday.

bramble yes work him hard and dont stop untill he gets it right. reds, fallow, roe, CWD, muntjack it will all work, if he gets it right.

best regards

peter
