Greetings,
A local gunshop has a Krieghoff Teck Over/Under in 458 Win for sale. His asking price is 2200 euro. The rifle is in fine condition and comes equiped with claw mounts and rings.Krieghoff has a good reputation in Belgium but I would like to know if any of our members has first-hand experience with such rifle.
Livinus

I have owned a Kreighoff Teck .458 since 1971 and have taken elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, kudu, and eland (the last four with the interchangeable barrels in .375 H&H).

The action features double under lugs and a Kersten cross bolt. In my case, the action is still extremely tight, and the action lever lines up slightly to the right of "fore and aft".

Standard features include ejectors, which can be converted to extractors simply by removing the coil springs. This can be done in less than five minutes with no other tool than a screwdriver.

One feature to look for is the removeable plate on the standing breech which Krieghoff introduced around 1973. This encompasses both firing pin holes and allows the firing pins to be removed and replaced without disassembling the action.

The gunmaker(a real one, one of the few real gunmakers in these parts)told me he ordered this gun in the early 70's, it went 'to sleep' in his racks till the 90's, and now it came back. Could not resist its pristine condition. The claw mounts and rings (30mm) are something else.Any idea about what would be apropiate?
Greetings,
Livinus

Appropriate about what? Price? I would say 2200 Euros is a steal, judging from current prices on eGun.

The price was ok (so I bought it), was just wondering about a scope/red dot...

Leupold makes a 30mm version of its Vari-X III 1.5-5X with an illuminated reticle which should be ideal. I have one on my Krieghoff 9,3X74R. Make sure it is mounted far enough forward.
