There is more than 1 way to get to Rome. I wanted to extend my range a bit and thought something like this just might be the ticket. A number 1 military action I convereted to an inline 50 cal. Color case and carbona blue by John Gillet of Classic guns, everything I did. The forend was my pattern for duplication and will get me through the fall.

Nice looking rolling block and cool opening lever, quite similar to the ones Fruend and Gove's shop made. ; I am saddened, though that you ruined a great Bp ctg rifle by turning it into an inline. I refuse to call it a muzzleloader. When I load my .50/70 Sharps Carbine from the muzzle ( and I do to increase powder capacity for testing), it is now a muzzleloader? I think not, but it differs not at all from the inlines today or the rifle you've ruined.

Not so sure much is ruined....another bpcr barrel could easily be installed. I just threaded in a breech block that takes 209 primers. I had the barrel custom made for it and another could easily be installed. The sidelever ia actually for a left side hepburn, I modified it a bit. By the way, the project started out as a rust bucket old frame and no other parts. I found all the pieces including the trigger gaurd and assembled it from parts. I think its somewhat of an improvement, but that just my opinion. Steve

Bouldersmith,
An OT question. How durable is the Carbonia blue? I like how it looks in pictures and I have two guns that would need to be reblued in the future, one an 8mm Mauser rifle and the other a 38 revolver. I am very careful and gentle with my guns (cheap and ordinary though they may be) and I wonder if I should have these two done up this way to make them a little different...
Thanks for the suggestions and good hunting!

'Ruined' might have been a bit hasty, in my distaste for anything connected to so-called inline muzzleloaders. To me, they are an abomination. ; Re-barreling with a worthwhile ctg. barrel would be a good move in my opinion. Of course, setting that barel back and chambering it for a good round would be the cheapest way to improve the rifle.
