I am little slow at times....better pics in the future. The light left some to be desired today. 12bore Evans super magnum.

no, its 4 of 17 made for the Maharao of Kotoh in 1927. I believe you know the chap that has the number 1 of the group....Doc from NZ. He has a few things I might be willing to trade him for. I believe this gun to be unfired.

An outstanding Super Magnum!! I have seen several super magnums that were little used. I don't know if this is just happenstance or a testament to the recoil of these guns. Have you had a chance to take choke measurements?

boulder

Thanks

Yep, I know where the No 2 gun
- the pair to Doc is as well.

I think in answer to your question,
it would be No, and secondly, if he
sells it then I have first pick as
he got it from me !!!

Boulder:

I've been researching the Webley built double rifles for quite a while, and am curious about something.

This gun was built for Evans by Webley on their A & W (shotgun) action, as opposed to their A & W C double rifle action. Engraving is Webley, so it was probably delivered to Evans complete. The Webley number should be on it somewhere. I'm curious as which serial number series the Webley number is from, shotgun or rifle? I assume it's from the shotgun series.

For a gun actually built in 1927, the Webley number should be in the 111,XXX to 112,XXX range for the shotgun series, or the 13,8XX to 13,9XX range for the rifle series. The number should be on or around the fore-end loop. On the rifles it's stamped on the side of the loop, just under the left barrel.

Lovely gun.

Sincerely appreciate the info Boulder. I've hunted with an Evans DR from 1927 for many years. It's probably my favorite.
