SS of a different flavour...
      #7469 - 26/01/04 11:57 AM

This rifle started out life as an old worn Remington BDL, and then.... one day I took it apart!

It is now an SS bolt gun for long range work. Cartridge is the Remington 25/06 and the rifle will stay in the 3s under field conditions.

I dubbed this long arm, "The Darkness".

Truly an antelope's worst nightmare!

Regards,

Hmmm....

I presume this audience has little taste for tactical style arms?!

Or perhaps because it is a Remington?

Do I need to post a pic of a traditional SS to redeem myself?

Hey, never said it was pretty

I personaly love any tactical style system though I am most likely in the minority.

I must admit much of my safe is set aside for tactical gear. I have over the years spent way to much time building mainly rem 40X action based tactical rifles and other assault style rifles and handguns since that is were my experience and training lays. One of my only two SS rifles is a McMillan based .50cal rifle.

Nice rig but it seems like a lot of effort to shoot prarie goats and I wouldn't care to tote it very far....but like they say, "what ever floats your boat."

You ever get near Wyoming you be sure and bring that McMillan with ya!

The prairie dogs in this area are extraordinarily aggressive and dangerous. That big 50 SS ought to shut 'em up

It's true... I paddle a rather strange boat

This thing is for the flatlands only. Too heavy for humpin'. Lot of support equipment needed in order to take advantage of the rifle's capability, also.

And, hey, you're not exactly a normal dude either!!

Take care.

You will be deepley disappointed with the 50 on prairie dogs and will quickly turn back to your 22-250 Ackley Imporved with Vmax bullets.

...but each person must become deeply disappointed at least once on their own.

We did on Rock chucks!

I do acctuly hunt Wyoming once or twice a year as time allows, a good freind has a ranch there. I have never hunted dogs though I threaten to every time I am out west, looks like great fun.

The 22-250 might give a better "splatter effect" but I could try a stalk up to closer range for a tracer round "dog on the barbie anyone?".
