When the .300WSM first appeared or shortly thereafter, There was an article in one of our Oz shooting mags, on possible conversions for the .300WSM. I can't find the mag and wondered if there was any info available on these conversions. The article may have been written by Nick Harvey but I am not sure. Whoever wrote the article even named the conversions, but the only one I remember was that he called one of them "Sambar".

The reason I am asking this is I am contemplating a conversion on my Tikka T3 .300WSM, to .375 or .416. Any info or thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

All the best Ian.

I am fairly sure that the bloke below is the one who made the 35 Sambar and that was for Guns and Games.

At the site below, Australian Hunting Net, there is a poster called Con who I think is fairly well up on the WSM widlcats.

Provided you are wanting a 375 or 416 WSM with no other changes except necking up then all you need is a gunsmith wirh a 300 WSM reamer that has a removable pilot and neck/throater in 375 or 416. Redding a good bed for quality custom dies. CH are cheaper but their repuation is a bit "iffy".

Watto:
My recollection is that Briel Jackson wrote the article you're referring to. I may be able to find it tonight... no promises.

I can't offer much else on this subject, sorry, more interested in vintage stuff.
