not really a knife but it does cut very well
      #81313 - 26/06/07 07:22 AM

Hi guys,
i´d just like to show a few pics of my favorite blade.
it´s made by a company called Citadel.
i re did the tsuka (handle) 2 weeks ago just so that it would fit me better.
that involved one peice of rayskin, 14 ft of silk aabout 60-70 folded paper triangels
and a few hours of work.

what do you think?

Oh, that was just a tounge-in-cheek.

I visited a old college roommate in Norway, just outside of Oslo. We visited his village and I bought a knife from a local maker. It is about 10cm long and 8mm thick deeply hollow ground. The sharpest knife I have ever had. I can shave with it. Great Scandinavian quality and traditional style.

Dominic is great to deal with..
drop him an email and he´ll give you an answer.

my katana is a one off, with an extra wide blade and a few other things...
and seeing that the government here att home takes 25% tax when you bring something into the country
my katana kost $ 3000 roughly... compare that to a CS katana that would have set me back $1000 roughly
but drop him an email, i´m pretty sure that the prices to other places in europe are better..
(wish i was back in Australia)

I have long admired the traditional Scandinavian knives. Do any of you know where I might purchase a knife like the one described here? Thanks.

if we can get bonanza to post a pic?
or tell me what you want, and i will find the right blacksmith or knifesmith for you.
we got plenty of them around here. there are several diff. styles of nordic knifes to chose from.

in general most of the blades are folded:

for working blades the 3 fold: 1 piece of spring steel or like with soft steel sides. can be made razor sharp and hold the egde for a long time.

for show and work damascus blades: 14 layers and up.

this dane is world renowned for his blades, without costing to much.

http://www.poulstrande.com/index.php?id=contact

i live about an 45 min from him and can recomend his products fully

a knife i made with one of his blades(the style is danish with a trout shaped twist) dam. blade

nordic straight with hook this blade is 1/4 inch thick at the top edge 3 fold blade damn sharp

look at his web page and say what you like in style then i will see if i can direct you to the right person

Finally got my web space working again. You can get an idea of the thickness of the blade by the hollow grind.
