Is this a lettered gun? Just curious. Was wondering how a 1908-1909 number got into 1930.

That's a very rare magnificent Holland you have there Sinner. In my humble opinion, the best DR ever offered from H&H, and what a great caliber too. You hit a home run on this one. FYI a friend of mine Robert Blackwell sold his in the same caliber for $50,000.00USD a few months back at SCI, but wasn't as clean as yours.

Yes, I think that is fair if it checks out, I would send it to a very good vintage gunsmith prior to.

Nice gun. The Holland Dominion is one strong action but I had no idea they were commanding this much money!

A Holland Dominion in .375 Flanged Magnum would need to be in extremely high original condition to be worth that much in today's market. If it has been converted from Flanged Magnum to .375 H & H Magnum (rimless), which many have been, that price would be completely out of order.
A friend bought an exceptionally nice Dominion .500/.465 not long ago for less than 3/4 of that.

Hmmm. "Asking" and "getting" are two different things. Just saw a nice Dominion .465 trade at $26,000. I just worked up loads in a Dominion .465 that a good friend bought last year. It's in fine original condition (not redone) and sold for $28,000. Saw a .375 recently asking $30,000. A Dominion .465 bringing $50,000 would likely be a record. I've never heard of one bringing anywhere near that, and such a sale would represent an anomaly, not true market.
The Holland Dominion is a nice rifle, but it isn't a Royal. These rifles originally sold for roughly half the price of a Royal, which was the whole idea of the Dominion, and that differential has held pretty well ever since. If you shop a little, you can get a pretty nice Royal DR in the $50,000 range. I saw a really fine .375 Flanged Magnum Royal trade for $45,000 a couple months before SCI. Sure, prices are rising, but they aren't going up THAT fast.

Great gun.
The Dominion action is considered THE strongest of the Sidelocks and why Holland like building them.
Good to see they are now commanding prices comensurate with what they are as they were always vastly undervalued IMHO.

Is not a back-action hammer sidelock stronger as there is no cocking rod running through frame?

Not really any difference between the Dominion and the Royal in terms of strength. They're both back-locks and thus have more steel left in the action bar.
