Insights on 6.5x63 Messner (Magnum).

I'd love to hear any information regarding this cartridge. I found a minimal amount of data elsewhere on the web, but would like to see what members here have to say.

Specifically, I'm interested in cartridge dimensions (maybe even a cartridge drawing), sources for brass and ammunition, reloading data and dies, and any additional history. I discovered this is a relatively new cartridge created in 2000 by a M. Messner and that is seems to be based on the 9.3x64 Brenneke but that's the extent of what I could find out.

Triebel http://www.triebel-guntools.de/ makes dies, reamers etc. Somewhere I have a drawing of the 6,5X63 Messner cartridge and its rimmed sibling.

Johan,

Thanks for the response. I did contact Mr. Messner via e-mail and hope to hear back from him soon. In searching his site, I was still unable to determine who ammo and brass was available from and whether or not it could even be found in the U.S.

The links you provided are nice but unfortunately my ability to speak German is non-existent so I can't learn very much.

Brass is available at a very steep price from Johannsen in Germany( http://www.johannsen-jagd.de ), hopefully Mr Messner will have a more affordable solution to offer. I‘ve searched a bit more and reamers are also available from Clymer.

Babelfish is a not always a very accurate tool but might enable you to extract some information for the websites without comprehending German. http://babelfish.altavista.com/
