Traded in my F250
      #77755 - 01/05/07 05:50 AM

I've owned a new F250 every 4 years for the last 20 years.
This time when it came time to buy a new car I shopped hard. What's new and exciting in the truck, four wheel drive market. My requirement's were 4 doors and a minimum 6'6" bed and no more diesels.

I bought a new Lincoln Mark LT. What a pretty truck. I've got 1000 miles on it in the last week. It looks like a truck, 4 doors, 4 wheel drive and drives like a Lincoln.

Right now I love it and deserved it. Hopefully it will live up to being a truck, time will tell.

Foxfire:
glad to see that you support North American automotive!

I drive a F-150 King Ranch (my 3rd one) and I like it a lot!

I went with the 6 foot box this time so that I can put my ATV in and close the tail gate for trips up north.

my main requirements in a truck are:
-biggest gasoline engine availble
-trailering pkg
-the best factory stereo
-sunroof

Foxfire
I am sure you will like it..... Ford still does trucks right!
A friend of mine has the Lincoln and he is quite pleased.

I tell him he just bought a more civilized King Ranch and that he's a city boy! the only time his tires will have dirt in them is when he jumps a curb while paralell parking! lol.

Mine is White Chocolate like a white pearl or sand with a black interior. I needed the black interior because it still is a work truck. I get in and out of it in my work clothes, my smelly fishing clothes and my bloody hunting clothes.
Though it's a fancy boy car I still will be working out of it. I'll just be a lot more comfortable.

I know the colour, that would be a good look with the black interior.

I know what you mean about the interior being dark, mine is the standard King Ranch brown interior, the first thing I do is flip the passenger side door mat over for the winter and throw an old piece of carpet on my side of the floor so I dont grease it up, then I can flip the mat over and throw the carpet out when I go to one them thar fancy city places like,Oh I dont know,,,the grocery store or the like! lol

I've got to confess that I too am a city boy and get razzed by the boys up north when I try to avoid overhanging branches and scrub bushes hanging into the "roads" we use up there in an attempt to save my paint job.

There are great advantages to having a V-8, 4X4, two door, with an 8 foot box old beater for getting around up there! I often envy those guys and think about picking one up when next I see one in decent mechanical condition at a fair price, you can always put a blade on the front which would be great to have up here in in the winter months.

I have a farm truck I use hunting.

It is a 1987 4x4 Ford 250 with a 3" lift kit and oversize tires with an extended bed. The motor has been rebuilt sans pollution hardware and the big Warne winch comes in handy along with the Dual fuel tanks. It is great for pulling trailers, carrying ATV's, needed equipment and goin' huntin!!

I don't worry about the paint and just go where it will take me.Couldn't get much for it but it gets the job done!!

On a good day it will get 10 miles a gallon.

But when you need it you need it, whether hauling a tractor or a trailer or whatever so no complaints here.If the roads turning radius is wide enough and the ruts not axle deep it can get you down most loggin roads to where you want to go.

Wouldn't dare take my GMC Duramax where I take the Ford.Doesn't have the paint job to spare, the road clearance,or the tires needed.

Foxfire---
I apologize about diverting your thread. Sounds like you have a great truck!!

hoppdoc,
No diversion here no apology necessary. It amazes me where a thread will go once started. It always seems to circle on a course similar to the one started. But it's always fun and interesting to watch.
I put 1300 miles on my truck in two weeks and love it. I know it will be in the woods. Only the first scratch hurts.

Just picked up the truck from the custom shop.
Blue tooth
Bull Bar (grille guard)
Fog Lights
Chrome rear step
Cap
Black Diamond plate tool box
It seems to be coming together nicely.

(or 28 litres per 1oo kilomtres).

My Gosh!

What size fuel tank(s) do you have in these vehicles?

Two tanks, a front and rear each about 15 gallons for a
6000 pound vehicle. Not alot of range but most trips are close and horsepower and torque count!!

I can't get excited about American cars any more. The last one I had was a '94 full-sized bronco that I drove for 11 years and loved. But today the Japs offer such a great product. I have a Subaru now that is fantastic. Simply buying an American product for patriotic reasons is like handing out welfare to the lazy. If 15 year UAW worker thinks his job is safe and Americans will buck-up and buy American when the chips are down, fa-get-about-it! This a global-market world now. I work as a computer programmer and have to compete with a man in India making $5/hour. Not really, because I have 20 years expierence, but you get my point. I have to do it better, faster, and cheaper.

Well at least the Japanese invest in North America with plants ,,,, when is the last time you saw China do the same?.... If the US wasnt so far in debt to the Chinese maybe they could raise the terrifs and get back to a more level playing field. As it is now it isn't the sloth like UAW employee you mention that hurts us as much as it is the subsidized asian worker and plant that is tearing away at the fabric!

The NA automotive industry is going the way of the NA textile industry of yesteryear... soon we all will be driving Subarus!... what a damn shame!

Comparing the auto industry and computer programming is akin to comparing apples and oranges. And who is to say that the fellow in India doesnt have 20 years experience as well?

Bonanza,
I looked at the foreign trucks, the Tundra, Crewmax, and Titan. I really use this truck for work and then play, those vehicles didn't have the same qualifications.
The Crewmax didn't have the bed size, the Tundra and Titan didn't have the crew capacity.
So American is where I went, I'm happy with my decision as I love the truck.
My son drives a Nissan Pathfinder and my daughter a Toyota FourRunner. Obviously nothing around compared to them.

Love my japanese vehicles-Toyota,Nissan-their great, fuel efficient, and reliable--

But so far foreign rigs haven't come close to my Ford 250 as a working truck ,to date it just seems the perfect tool for the job. Gobs of torque and all the room I need.

Of course the gas milage is pitiful--
but you can't have everything
