.357 Magnum Revolver Lion ammo?
      #75658 - 05/04/07 03:01 PM

I was reading about some PH and some clients take handguns as a backup if it is the only gun available in a emergency situation and in Zim I read the Park Ranges/PH mostly use 357 mag revolver, What factory ammo would be the best in this regard against lion and bigger nasties in the bush? I know a pistol is marginal against lion and such but if ts all you had what 357 ammo would you use? Thanks

If I had only a 357, I'd shoot myself with it instead of some critter chewing or stomping me to oblivion. Now, if it was the only thing I had on hand, I'd use at least 180 gr LBT or better yet, the 200 gr LBT for pure penetration. 357's are great man-stoppers or medium game. I know Doug Wesson went all over the world whacking everything to advertise the then new "357 Magnum" but he had back up and he was an excellent shot.
