Hi all,

This combination has struck me as interesting.

I was wondering,though,given that to convert this rifle to take this large cartridge, steel must be reamed/cut out to quite an extent, what is the gun like use wise? Is it going OTT for the 550 action? For example, suppose one home loads, and fires a 'hot' load through it, such as the infamous 600gr at 2600 fps, how would the action stand up??

Yes

quite a few have been used in making 500 Jeffrey's.
