I agree that the 325 WSM was introduced to sell more medium bore rifles to us guys that already have that catagory of rifle.I have a 338WM I enjoy.

I wouldn't buy one for that reason. Why bother?

I do have a 300 WSM I enjoy. It is 7.5 pounds with scope, is shorter, handier, and lighter in the hills than my 300 WM.

I sold that 300 WM without regrets. The 300 WSM works better for how I hunt.

Would I use the 300 WSM for 300+ yd shooting? NOPE.I have a 300 Ultramag for that, but it is great for adequate knockdown power for different scenarios as a hunting rifle.

I hunt primarily with a 270 Win., 300 Win. Mag., 338 Win. Mag., 375 H&H, and 416 Rem. Mag. In recent years, I've hunted with the 338 more than I have anything else. Most of my rifles are well-built custom rifles that are made to seriously hunt with, and I don't have any desire to abandon any them just for the sake of experimenting with some new and redundant cartridge, especially when I have many years of experience and a thorough understanding of these primary cartridges.

But I do see the Kimber 8400 Montana as a very solid, well thought-out, well-built rifle. I also see the 325 WSM as a solid nitch cartridge that would be tremendous on various Alaskan and Canadian hunts, as well as local elk hunts. For that reason, I intend to acquire one of my own.........

Hmmm... I thought that was the case as well. Bought one here in Australia in 7mm08 as my go to light weight deer hunting rifle.

So far it has not shot a good group but I have not finished with it yet. But its certainly not an instinctive shooter like my 3 Tikka T3s which have all shot factory & handloads very well.. IMO they are every bit as tough, shoot better at half the price.

I get the impression, not only from my limited experience but from other shooters, that the modern American factory rifle is struggling to match the accuracy out of that cheap, basic but very functional Finnish rifle. Obviously there are always exceptions.

If you want to talk cheap and functional I think you can't beat a Savage rifle with their accutrigger.

Ugly as dirt and rudimentary aesthetics but most shoot fairly well. Some shoot very well .

I mourn the demise of the Winchester M70. With minimal tinkering those rifles are super shooters. I have a Classic Stainless in .300 WSM that is simply a tack driver. On a calm day it will shoot under 1 MOA at 500 yards.

The 325 will be a cracker.

A-Bolt Ti would be my WSM choice,as they shoot & feed so damn nice.
And those A-Bolt tang safeties just makes it that much more of a good thing IMO.

I have a Leupold 3.5-10 VX-III with a custom reticle from Premier Reticles. The reticle has holdover dots for 400 and 500 yards, with the crosshair sighted dead on at 200 yards.

I like the Swarovski TDS system.The 3 x 12 is especially handy.

Once you know the correct "factor" you can assign yardage to lower "cross hairs" based on the bullets known trajectory
