What a nice and handy gun! I have its counterpart in a lesser quality H&R Topper in 30-30, 20ga, 22 Hornet, 410. I'd gladly trade mine for yours... The new Hornady factory ammo makes the 30-30 just a bit better, too. I used to carry the 20ga and Hornet in a roll pouch when I flew places with my son as pilot.

That's "only" a Baikal ij-18. Manufactured then When the russians know how to do the woodwork. Comparing the Baikals or IZH today my piece is really the best quality gun.
Riflebarrel was custom made by our local gunsmith. Scope on that picture was ancient coltmaster and nowdays I use a bit more modern optics.

There are some loads and bullets that I've been testing on my rifle.
Cartridges from left to right:
Sako factory load 150gr FP, Win. Silver Tip 170gr FP factory load, handloaded Speer TNT 125gr
Bullets:
S&B 73gr FMJ RN, Leader (Prvi) 93gr FMJ RN, Sako 110gr HP, Lapua 100gr HP cuthead and Woodleigh 180gr pp. That Woody might need some custom items like a little cavity on the point, because I want to be sure that it really mushroomed even a little.

Hi Paatti,
Nice little rifle I just got one in 308 only cost me NZ$250 with scope and 100 rounds ,shots very well, as you say the wood is very ordinary!
How was the barrel made ? from shot gun mono block ? I,m looking to add a 50 Alakan barrel ,may have to get whole rifle and whack off barrel ! A shot gun can be had for $100 to $150 NZ .
Thanks for the photo !

Rifle barrel was fitted in the shotgun block.
If you buy an extra rifle or shotgun for your project make sure that new monoblock can be fitted in the old gun. Tolerances may vary very much.
