Hello,
One example of the above, New, is available from the mfg.-30-06- and no longer offer it and curious of any of you have such a stalking rifle and if so, how is it?? Not a low price rifle and looking for solid data on the piece. Thanks for any info/experience available.

Driver,

Is it the newer type with the cocking system (it kind of looks like a Blaser cocker/decocker to me), or the old (discontinued?) type with a regualar safety?

I've handled a few of the old kinds at guns shows, and they (as with other Heym products) seemed to be of very high quality. Wouldn't mind one myself actually, in 7x65R for example! But I haven't handled one of the newer ones, so I can't comment on them. I'd be suprised though if they weren't just as good, as long as you don't mind the cocking system.

Erik

Hello,
Yes, that is the one. Spokesperson for Heym told me that the model had been discontinued for sale to the public not due to quality issues, but rather very little demand in the market. Stated that the quality was first rate and well it should be for some $6,000.00 in purchase price. However, it is a very fine appearing rifle and sure it would be great for hunting purposes in the caliber of 30-06. They have others of different calibers/grades which are spoken for and was looking for those with experience of the rifle. Supposedly this is the only one left????? Thanks for the information you provided.

The only question I'd have would be do you intend to scope the rifle? The older models of Heym and other like mfgs (Merkel, Kreighoff) needed to be set up for scopes at the factory since the normal set up would be claw mounts, hard to get done here and a lot of work. The newer guns are a tad lighter and are designed to have mounts added more easily. If you are planning on using open sights only, then the older model, which appears to be one heck of a good looking rifle, would work for me. Dave
