Anyone own or used a Heym Express big bore Bolt Rifle. Interested in how they perform, the finish, value for money etc as I am considering buying one. Any information appreciated.

I used to own a Heym express rifle in .600 NE. It was an excellent rifle. Offhand, I could shoot a 3 inch group at 50 yards because it was well balanced and had a nicely fitting stock. The sights were excellent. The action was smooth and the rifle was well-finished. It was not a best quality rifle, but it was not that expensive either. Eventually I sold the rifle because it was too heavy and kicked too much. At heart I am a recoil wimp.

I have a Heym Express in 404 Jeffery and I love it. It is a "beefy" gun but the fit and finish is excellent and feeds perfectly. It fits me the best of any "out of the box" rifle I have ever owned. I haven't had it long but i can HIGHLY recommend it.

hi john-
just want to add i have just taken posession of a .505 gibbs heym express for my guiding work in the bush.
the fit and finish is superb. no frills, just solid , functional excellence. the express sights come right up into the aim and are clear and easy top read in low light. and although the rifle is stout the barrel weight and balance are perfect. most importantly and some thing that you just cant get from an out of the box bruno- it feeds perfectly and the massive claw extractor functions like a dream. you will not have to be running of to your local riflemaker to make this baby feed!
i have given it a good work out and so far so good. for me the heym is my life insurance. i plan to test it further in both the high arctic and african bush over the coming months.

as to heym them selves i visited the factory in december. each element of the rifles creation process is overseen by an expert in much the same way the old english rifles were assembled and finish, right down to the regulation and stockist.

you cant go wrong with a heym express.

my best olly
