Gentlemen:

I am pleased to announce that I just bought my FIRST Double Rifle. It also happens to be the LAST one available of the 30 rifles Cabelas had made by Chapuis. It is a .470 with nice wood and engraving. I think it has a lot of nice features for the price. It should arrive in a few days since it has to be shipped from another Cabela's store.

Please let me know if any of you have the same/similar rifle. I am interested in your opinion or comments. Thanks.

I have shot 3 different Chapuis 470 doubles. All 3 shot very good.
I have seen a couple of the Cabelas Chapuis guns and they looked very good.

I think the Chapuis is heavly biased for right-haned shooters, and as such; mine beat me every time I shot it. I sold it an bought a neutral Jeffery. Apart from that - I loved it! Mine would shoot sub-inch (yes sub inch) groups.

At $10,999 it's a good deal if you are into the upgrades, 4A wood up from 3A and enhanced enrgraving, and want/need the rifle now. Stocking dealers sell base guns for $11,700-11,999. I'm told Cabela's will have more in 6 months. If that's the factory quoted timeline then it's be longer than that.

I heard that they will get more rifles in also, however, they said that due to the strength of the Euro, the same rifle will now be about $1,000 more.
