Do you have any photos of the show or some of the doubles on sale?

(If you say no, go sit in the corner.)

What do you mean - explain further.

ie If you saw H&H flying off the table, yes, I can understand why you say high but were you talking about normal, SxS, used 470's, 450, 450/400's etc etc ???

I saw a lot of rifles being sold (of every kind and configuration) but personally didn't see any "drunk" patrons. Or at least didn't note any in my wanderings. There were more rifle manufacturers at this convention than last, and all of them seemed happy. I'm not an expert, so cannot comment on the cost of the rifles being sold. I did see a lot of rifles priced in the high teens to well over 100k. As noted the Searcy classic is $15k, Chapuis run around $11k, H&H and Purdey are ridiculous as noted. G&H had rifles from the 10's up through 150k displayed. I didn't check prices of Rigby, Boss, Fabri, Rizzini, Westley Richards, and others. Many others were there and I didn't bother to check prices very much as they were pretty much all well out of my range. One I did handle and drool over was a Westley Richards double .22 High Power (Champlins asking price $19,500). Very nice rifle and I can't imagine a rifle that would be more fun for "play time". Glad I didn't go-- Coulda been dangerous!!

Probably would have got a new Heym in 450/400 vs a new car and maybe a divorce on the same day!!

Hmmm. Maybe next year----

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know.

Looking around, seems to be a shortage of GOOD
English guns on Champlins, GA etc sites.

I talked to the Heym folks about their 450-400. They haven't completed any as of yet, but are hoping the first will be completed "in a few months" IIRC. The HEYM price quoted was the same as a Searcy. The rifle looked very nice to me. But then again, I like plain color case, clean checkering and little or no engraving. Not sure why, but there it is...Duane

Does anyone know how much the Rigby Double Rifle with Elephant Hunt went for at the auction?

It was a merkel Rigby.

Did anyone see the rack of 4 Fabbri shotguns @ 600K each (all sold)?

Champlins WR set was pretty fetching as well.

The Hartmann & Weiss 500 Jeffery take down with steel butt plate and 7 other bbl sets was impressive if only an "art" rifle in my mind.

Also checked out Holland's budget DR, was very well done and priced at 75K.

Did they happen to have a new production paradox on hand?

Let's see. The Boddington trip went for $130-140K ( I was walking out the door at the time). California rigby claims that they are not Merkel actions any more (Could have fooled me). The Holland round action was nice but not up to their best work. They did have the new paradox, clearly a relatively plain test rifle, but were touting 3" groups at 50 yards. WR had a fabulous 10 bore H&H paradox. List prices were high (with Westly Richards being the worst offender) but people seemed to deal. I suspect that a lot of rifles went home unsold. I found a couple of nice things and avoided divorce, so all in, a good trip
