Well fellows this information is too good to keep to myself so here we go.
I had read an article in another gun publication regarding a new copper remover that really worked without the scrubbing and general pain in the ass steps necessary to get the copper out of your bores.
I immediately ordered three bottles which arrived today. Actually the product is packaged in small, pressurized 3 ounce cans. Attached to each can is a small, black nipple that is supplied for 22 caliber bores and a piece of clear, plastic tubing that slips over the nozzle for larger bore rifles and handguns.
I shook the can for a couple of minutes as there is a small ball bearing in the can to stir up the mixture. I attached the clear tubing and grabbed my 465 barrels. I inserted the tubing inside the right barrel, held my finger over the muzzle and pressed the button on the can. Within a moment the foam started creeping out of the right chamber. I pulled the tube out and placed it inside the left barrel chamber and pressed the button again. The foam filled the barrel quickly and I removed the tube and stuck a pair of rubber stoppers in the chambers. I then leaned the barrels against a chair and let the foam work for 45 minutes. I grabbed a cleaning rod with a jag attached and pushed it through the right barrel. I changed patches and did the same thing to the right barrel. A little of the foam was on the outside of the muzzles and I wiped it off and held the barrels up to the light. I was amazed to see that the bores sparkled as never before! I looked carefully at the bores from the muzzle end and every bit of copper that was there prior to using the foam, had completely been removed! Please bear in mind that this rifle had quite a bit of copper residue built up near the muzzles. Again, it was gone!!
You should also know that this foam contains no ammonia, has no odor, and wipes off with a paper towel. You can use this product in the house without stinking up the room with chemical smells! I am really impressed and I am sure you will be as well! Following is the address and phone number of where you can get some for yourselves.
Copper Removal Foam
From: Clean Gun, LLC PO Box 211662 Bedford, Texas 75050
877-269-8490 phone
The price is $ 9.99 per can plus shipping.( I bought 3 cans and the total shipping was 6.50)
If a bore is heavily fouled you can fill it with foam and leave it overnight.
I will be curious to see what kind of results you all get from this product.

This sounds similar to a product I use called WipeOut.
On heavy fouling factory barrels, I sometimes have to let it sit overnight.
It is nice to avoid the fumes, especially in the winter when the house is all closed up and its hovering around zero outside!
WipeOut is less effective on powder fouling. How does your product handle the dark stuff?

It is supposed to take care of the entire mess but I can't say for sure do to the fact that the barrels on my rifle were clean. This product is made in Finland.

Wipe-out gets my vote. I've been using it now for about 6 months, and it is the first bore-cleaner to totally remove that pesky copper fouling towards the muzzles of big-bores and doubles. Marvellous stuff!
Bit of a knack to using it without getting foam everywhere .

...thanks for the post, holland465...
...sounds almost too good to be true...i wonder whether any tests have been conducted to assess potential long-term effects on the metal...perhaps a bore scope evaluation would be sufficient to assess the post-application condition of the bore...
...if you purview other chat boards you will notice a general sense of paranoia amongst match-grade bolt rifle owners concerning potentially damaging effects of newly released bore solvents...'doubly' so with a double, given the high cost of replacing what is essentially a custom set of barrels...

Thomas,
"if you purview other chat boards you will notice a general sense of paranoia amongst match-grade bolt rifle owners concerning potentially damaging effects of newly released bore solvents...'doubly' so with a double ......"
Suggest you look at accurate relaoding which is where Wipe Out first got the thumbs up.
2. I distribute Wipe Out in Australia, however before I bought it in I gave it to numerous friends of mine who I know are highly critical" and got thrme to test it. Both myself and a few others also tested it on heaps of double rifles to make sure it didn't affect the regulation / soldering of the barrels.
I have no hesitation on using it my doubles and I know heaps of others who also use it.
The bore has been looked at with a bore scope after using Wipe Out and it doesn't affect the metal.
Hope this helps

500nitro,
...this most certainly helps...
...i will have to try wipe-out on the barrels of a new o/u as a 'one-shot' new barrel cleaning proposition as compared to the 'one-shot/one-clean' regiment (with sweets, shooters choice, kroil, etc.) that i was weened on as a former bolt-action rifleman...
...would you know whether brownells, cabelas, etc. carries wipe-out here in the states?...
...thanks again for responding...

I don't know about the catalog but it is available at Cabelas' stores.
It is basically ammonia ions and it shouldn't hurt steel, just copper.

ThomasEdwards,
Wipe Out is Manufactured in the US by SharpShootr.
Call Terry on 785-883-4444. He owns the company and will ship whatever you order.
FYI, I tend to take out the Powder Fowling with a patch / one brush through with Hoppes before I put in the Wipe Out.
Also - the other product the person posted about - they are 3oz cans, Wipe Out comes in 6oz cans so is about half the price of the other stuff from Texas.
Hope this helps.

Thomas,
I use Flush Out when I want to clean everything out of an Action, ie Mauser 98 but it is NOT available in Australia as I only imported 6 cans to test it.
Other products are also available on the market here so it could be just another "me to".
However, since you are in the US, I would say yes, get 1 can and give it a go.
Hope this helps

PS - REMEMBER - Wipe Out does NOT Smeell bad / chemically so it is easy to forget not to get it anywhere where you shouldn't. Keep Wipe Out away from your stock.
I would also suggest you get some 6mm clear plastic tubing and apply Wipe Out from the CHAMBER end of Bolt Action rifles - but make sure you seal the chamber with the plastic tube (or it foams back towards the action).
I don't want to sound onerous but just passing on what works.

For me just give me smelly gooy Sweets. I have better things to do than to have to wait for my bore cleaner to work! I hear that Wipe Out is a good product, I haven't used any of it yet. Butch's Bore Shine is just about like water down the barrels. I, like 500Nitro use Hoppes, then Sweets.
What do you do about old foulings from old nickel plated bullets?
