YOUR CHRISTMAS RIFLE/ HUNT PRESENT!!
      #66961 - 14/12/06 12:38 AM

OK guys--

Lets find out your wishes for a rifle to hunt wherever you wish!! Assume that the trip is free and a go and you have the itch for some new toy that you will eventually have to pay for half of it( you found extra $$$ found somewhere).

What rifle would you want? How would you want it spec'd out??

Personally I would want a standard boxlock Heym 450/400 with a wood upgrade , claw mounts, A S&B illuminated scope, and a shotty 20 gauge barrel as well. That trip would be to Africa for DG and PG of course.

Any other Christmas rifle wishes(bolt, DR, or whatever!) out there??

Cheers and Good Hunting to all!!

I'll go first unless someone else beats me whilst I type this,

For me if Santa was feeling a little flush with cash a Holland and Holland Royal De Luxe in 500 N.E- no brainer

No scope just regulated to express sights for 50 - 100 and 200 yards, in its Oak and leather case with all tools with ivory handles.

As for the hunting to accomapny it, anywhere where buff, hippo and elephant roam freely.

For a large magazine rifle, this is a sinch as I already have it, my .500 Jeffery by Trevor Proctor, however if indulgence is the name of the game a .416 Rigby (by Trevor Proctor and NOT Rigby!!) with Swarovski 1.25-4 x 24 scope in Q.D mounts

I'm going to have D'Arcy Echols build one more big-bore, and it'll either be another 375 H&H to match the first one he put together for me over seven years ago, or else a 458 Lott with open sights only -- no scope.

Ah, what the hell - I think these "money no object" dreams...

Rifle: Holland & Holland Royal de Luxe
Engraving: Bulino game scene with Rose and Scroll done by the Brown Brothers.
Caliber: .500/465
Stock: Exhibition grade Circassian Walnut with deep, dark mineral lines
Options: Extended trigger guard and stock medallion - no extended top tang.

I would let the experts at the gun shop dictate the length of the barrels to ensure it is balanced perfectly.

Butch Searcy PH model in .500 NE (stainless steel)with 12 ga. barrels in fitted oak & leather case. He did one once in stainless that I fell in love with.

I think I have almost everything I want and ever need BUT.
I once let a Left handed, Full stock, Steyr Mannlicher, with double set triggers, in 7x57 get away from me over a couple of bucks.
I wish I had it now. What and where would I go with it, midwest monster whitetail hunt.

Ok, I'll play.

I am fortunate to have several double rifles. I am not fortunate enough to have all I want.

There's one little double rifle that was offered by Westley Richards a couple years ago that I think would be a dandy to own. It's a best quality Francotte SLE in .22 Hornet. I posted photos of it on the DR Archive forum under this thread:

http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=54980&an=0&page=0#Post54980

Just don't know what I would do with it. Stalk squirrels and chipmunks and groundhogs and turkeys I suppose. I'll bet it's a bitch to regulate. Probably the most aggravation you can buy for the price. But I'd love to own that little rifle.

I don’t think I can do just 1 rifle!!!
Well hear is a start
Kreighoff big 5 in 500 3 in and spare barrels in 7x57R, 9.3x74R, 500/.416 N.E all with best quality wood with all the upgrades I deam appropreat and the side plates done in game sceens suitable for the caliber. Claw mounts and scopes for each barrel. You could add a 20 gauge shotgun barrel for occasional bird shooting.
