"Hubertus" drilling made in GDR???
      #65509 - 08/11/06 01:28 PM

Anyone have any info on such drillings? This ones an early 80's 12x12/9.3x74R. The seller can find no makers name, other than "Hubertus". It is also marked "Made in GDR"; which I would assume to be the German Democratic Republic aka East Germany. Has 70mm shot chambers, and a claw mounted 6x Kahles.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

They were marketed heavily by Frankonia and were moderately priced and good solid guns. What is the asking price? The chamberings are about as good as it gets!

Thanks, 'safari.

The chambering is very attractive to me as well. A perfect "heavy" drilling companion to my Simson 12ga/7x65R. The asking price is $5900, which seems a bit high, for a non "name" gun. Granted, the scope has value, but still kind of steep.

That is a bit high, in my opinion. There are Merkels and Simsons around for that price, scoped. I recently turned down a good Simson in 12ga & 9,3X74R for $4,000.00 w/o scope. $1,900.00 would scope it nicely...Have you checked with Dale here on the forum...DLN...? He has excellent guns and is as honest as they come.

I still covet your 12 & 7X65R.

l2s,

If that Simson you passed on is still available, could you PM me some contact info? I'm extremely pleased with mine, would love to get one just like it in 9.3. I'll PM Dale/DLN as well. I am not familiar with him; thanks for pointing it out! The 7x65R is a real keeper; only a couple more weeks before it's first hunt!

ak-j,

It sold quickly to another buyer. Dale may well find you a 12/9,3X74R; give him a little time to find a good one.

L2S,

I got an email from Dale, which I'll reply to this evening, thanks!
