There was a discussion of this incident on the Indians For guns forum and one of the members (who is also a member here) posted about it in detail. Apparently, a Japanese tourist was on the elephant on a photo safari (the hunting of tigers has been outlawed for a long time in India) and the tiger was chased away by the mahout who was injured in the attack. He was later commended for his bravery by the Indian government - the incident took place in Rajasthan not very long ago.

I got to see the first video but my virus scan software went on major defense and blocked the second video as it fought off a major wave of spyware attacks.

I could not believe how high that tiger lept to try and get the Mahout! If that guy fought that tiger off he deserved an award for Bravery!!!

there is a group in a britisch museum showing an elephant with mahout, howdah with a gentleman and tiger hanging on the side of the howdah, the genleman is firing - in life size

anyone knows a pic from this magnificent group in the net?
