Most folks around here carry 44's or 12 ga for bear/moose. I say, how about a new .577?
I just need to convince the little woman that I NEED another "gun," maybe this way, she'll feel safe.
Going to Westley Richards in Bozeman, Mt. in a few days, I better work fast!

i know little of bear hunting and was wondering if a 577 might be a little big for bears considering it was the standard caliber for ele but i assume it is the fun of shooting and owning a big double that is key in this matter not what you are shooting with it

Yeah! Actually I use a double 9.3 for all my bear hunting. I think its a fine bear round. But hey I think I need a 577 too

I have dealt with a bunch of black bears in peoples houses in the past. I don't think they make a handheld weapon that would make one feel safe!! I .577 would be at the top of my list I think and a great excuse for getting one if spouse will buy that.
