gunsmith to examine on British single shot?
      #6019 - 22/12/03 10:11 AM

I want to shoot my new Field's patent SS but I'd like someone who knows what they are doing to look at the rifle first. Everything appears to be as it should be, but this is my first British SS and I'd like to be sure. Anyone have a gunsmith they would recommend in the US? Thanks!

John,

Get a hold of my old classmate Jim Brockman at Brockman's Custom Rifles

If he can't help you, he will know who can.

Tell him Douglas sent you...won't get you a discount or me either, He just a friend.

DD,

He never did get back to me, so I have to assume he wasn't interested. Anybody else have a gunsmith they would recommend? Thanks.

DD,

He never did. I just figured he wasn't interested. Still looking for a reputable gunsmith if anyone can recommend one?

...there is a thread in the double gun section that discusses just this topic...tho the recommended gunsmiths have national reps in the double gun field, one would think that they should also have extensive experience with fine british singles...

You may check with Leonard J. Bull. He started in the guntrade at 14 working for Holland&Holland. I met him when I was a student at Trinidad and he was teaching bench metal and filing Farqharsons out of blocks of steel.

He still lives in Trinidad, Colorado.
