Rabbits ???

Hi

Shot on a property west of Tenterfield a few weeks ago and even though we were out before first light, again during the day, and then late afternoon into the night we only saw 3 rabbits over two days. All of them at night with spotlight.

I read on the weekend that a natural virus (name ??) was knocking them around but did not think it woud be this bad.

What is everyone else seeing.

Well I had better get out and shoot some then. I have so many than I can find at least a couple on the front lawn at night. Spot around six on the front drive way each night or early morning. They are almost totally nocturnal so it will be a spotlight job.

The Virus is called something like Calicivirus.

The drought is also knoking them around a bit
but I have seen more rabbits around in the last 2 years
down here than I have for a while.

Let them breed !!!

i lived on the west side of tenterfield for 2 years and i only saw 4 rabbits in 2 years there havent been to many for ages the locals told me

Looks like it depends on the area and yes 500, Calicivirus does ring a bell. I'll have to wait until the little buggers breed again.

Calicivirus knocks the population pretty hard but after a few years the little buggers are back in full numbers.
