Charles Lancaster sidelock .375 2 1/2 for auction

Some of you might be interested in a pretty sidelock double that used to belong to Elmer Keith.

.

Estimate is $12,000 to $15,000. I've seen items go for under the estimated range to considerably over, but the staff knows their stuff and prices pretty well (especially when you factor in their 20% fee on top of what you bid).

Auction is June 20th. Business may take me to SF, so I may get to take a look, but I'm out of the bidding for this one, boys -- have fun!

I bet it is regulated for a lighter load of 270 grain bullets which would make it a leopard gun but marginal on buff and a no-no on elephant.

$15K for a 375 2.5?!?! I don't care who owned it in the past, or if it is a sidelock....no refinished, white line recoil pad sporting, PG rifle is worth that. I'll offer $7500.

If one really wants to fire an anemic round with a bit more flair and less money, I think these might be better options,

For a start it's got oval bore rifling which isn't quite as easy as
normal rifled barrels.
