Any one have any thoughts on using a Greener Empire Model SxS for building a double rifle?

No good send it to me for disposal .
Great base for conversion, but if the barrels are in good shape have a monoblock built. Don't ruin the original shottie tubes.

Here's the description:
In reply to:
12ga. S/S Greener Cased Empire model with 30" 11/4 oz. nitro-proof barrels. Canvas case with Greener label & ebony cleaning rods. Considerable pitting to bores.
Now you see why I am considering this gun for conversion.
What would expect to pay for a Greener Empire, barrel condition aside, in the US.?

Well in general Greener's carry a steep price here in the US. For an example the last 3 I've seen that had bad bores were still in the $600 area. The only empire I've come across with bad tubes and it had a broken stock still sold for $450.

If you search arround a little on the site. Marrakai has a really nice converted empire. There are some pics in a couple of the building rifles threads and if you look around he had a story where it is center stage.

Here's the yarn again, for those interested:
Greener Empire Conversion
...and a couple more successful hunts with that double:
Back-pack Hunt with the Missus
Pig and Pussy Hunt!
Needs a bit more editing, but I consolidated my thoughts on the .577 Light Nitro cartridge as a conversion candidate (modified from a previous post):
.577 x 2 3/4 Nitro Express
Hope this is of some interest.

I refuse to read it again -- it just increases my level of jealousy! That is a great double you have there.

In reply to:
Instantly I was engulfed in a huge cloud of white snow! The muzzle-blast had shredded all the paper-bark off the right-hand side of my make-shift rest, covering me in a layer of pink and white dust and fine shreds of paper! For several vital seconds I couldn't see a thing!
Up to now I thought this only occured with rifles equiped with muzzle brakes!!
My wife just came in the room and wanted to know what I was laughing so hard about...been there and done this.
Alright guys you have convinced me...I bidding on the Empire... a low ball bid but a bid none the less!
