I have been going back and forth on this gun, what do you guys think? I really like the different features, check out the safety switch, and reinforced round trigger plate action. Neat stuff...

Fantastic. Great medium calibre too, is it belted or rimmed?
I do prefer the usual safety however.

Thanks, it's rimmed. It seems most are so used to the normal safety, though it just looks like it would be easier to work just sliding it side to side instead having to push both thumbs sometimes to get a hot guns safety to break.

An incredibly beautiful gun. The MacNaughton-Dickson ROund action was one of the finest ever made. Congratulations on your ownership of a superb double rifle and thanks for posting pictures for us.

Thanks but I haven't wrote the check yet for it, still a bit leary of a trigger plate action for a double rifle. They are asking $75,000.00 for it though its new and unfired, I just don't know if I would want to have that kind of money in it.

I oggled over that rifle for quite some time at the Vintagers in September and at Las Vegas in February. It's a fantastic piece of work, and a real beauty.
I'm skeptical of it being "new and unfired." It's my understanding it was built for a gent in Texas and went on one safari. He then decided to part with it, for whatever reason. I do not believe Griffin & Howe had anything to do with its inception. I never understood why they have it listed as a new gun. It's stamped by a Texan importer. Be that as it may, I think it's a fabulous rifle. I was told by the principal of Dickson & MacNaughton that its original cost was 60,000 pounds sterling.
If I could swing it, it would make a nice addition to my collection. That's for sure.

Droplock101, where did you get that piece of information
as.
1. I have never heard it before
2. I have never experieced it with any of my big bore DR's
and I have hunted in temps up 145 degrees and 100% humidity
including soaked during heavy rain
3. If the gun doesn't function properly for any reason, it should be
fixed by a gunsmith. After all, I am sure Purdey, H&H, WR etc etc
Double Rifles don't come with a disclaimer about temperature and humidity !!!
4. IMHO it is complete BS

Well I would say that the guns you and others are using should
be looked at by a gunsmith. What if it decides NOT to come off
one day when you most need it.
It's a bit like the foreend wood touching the barrel on a Bolt Action
and the small changes that occur due to temperature or the barrel heating
up changing the POI. You get the wood removed so it is free floating.
