Interesting SS

Here is an interesting looking SS. Single Shot I've never seen anything quite like it before. Anyone have an idea of how the block moves on opening?

Bill,

The Heeren is a falling block single shot. The action is unique. It works by unlatching the trigger guard at its front (you can see the latch inside the trigger guard at the front. The entire trigger guard and trigger assembly then hinges back toward the shooter on a hinge pin behind the trigger guard. You can see the hinge pin through the back of the receiver near the bottom, just ahead of the pistol grip. It has a retaining screw with a crescent cutout just to its front. As the trigger guard hinges down, the block is pulled downward by its linkage.

To fire the rifle it is first loaded by cycling the action as described, then the shooter pushes forward on the lever behind the trigger until it catches. This cocks the striker and sets the trigger. The front trigger then fires the rifle.

It's an interesting system, to say the least.

They are very different. I couldn't quite work out the way it worked in my head. Thanks for the description. Sounds a bit complicated for my tastes. Thus you will probably need to order your own
