mickey, I see in the reloading section where you have tested the 577 3" and the 600 Nitro. How does the recoil compare between the two calibers, and compared to the 450/470 doubles. What was the weight of the two rifles?

A friend had the 600 and I only shot it twice once. A couple of other times once only, to show how tough I was. It is the worst kicking rifle I have ever fired, and that includes the .577 and a couple of 8 bores. Weight is around 13lbs and much too light, by about 20 lbs.
The .577 is mine and weighs 10 1/2 lbs and also is a real kicker but not as bad as the 600. I have thought about adding weight but since it is easy to carry and not that bad to shoot standing I think I'll leave it.
I would say the 577 is, maybe, 25% more than a 470.

Hello all,
I hope all of you had a great Christmas. Just my two cents on recoil. Out of all of the double rifles that I have had and now have, my 465 H&H without a doubt has the most felt recoil of any double that I have shot! I am excluding the 577 and the 600 of course. I don't know what it is about this rifle but it is definitely unpleasant to shoot. I had a 470 Rigby, a 476 Westley Richards, a plethora of other big bore double rifle and this H&H smacks you like a Weatherby! I shot 23 rounds through it from the bench and I was never so happy to get home and have 3 Bombay Blu Sapphire maritni's and 3 Advil!

Interesting, I have a Holland 465 now and had another before that and didn't find them any worse or better than a 470 or a 450. Has yours been restocked? Is the comb too sharp or just the snap back? Mine has a thinner than normal grip and a long pull, 14 7/8. It is almost dainty.
Are the Bombay Blu Saphire Martinis worth the pain?

Hello Mickey,
The Bombay's are strictly medicinal, if you know what I mean! The stock appears to be original and the lop is about 14 1/2". It has a very nice leather covered, Decelerator pad, extended top tang, and weighs in at about 10 1/2 pounds. Maybe I am getting old but it sure seems to bang me a lot harder than any of the others.
