Double of the Day - more controversy
      #5744 - 16/12/03 01:08 PM

A bolt action double rifle - the Fuchs

Alaska? Ruwenzori, Alatai, Eschnapur - or somewhere in the Savannah.

The big game double-barrel repeating rifle.

The first double barrel system in the world with a repeater system. The challenge comes in just a fraction of a second. Your personal safety is at risk. It's eye to eye. All that matters is reliability and speed. With two cartridges it's a double hit with-in 5-7 seconds - and 4 cartridges left in the magazine. The rifle can be emptied in 30 seconds. But powerful game do not give in to the hunter quite so easily - what is needed is power and a strong will. A battle ensues - but that is what makes the sport so exciting and challenging. More firepower brings superiority. Greater safety means more enjoyment from the hunt.

Dangerous calibre? Enough safety?

Anything with power and performance calls for greater responsibility. Optimum safety is part of our philosophy. The double barrel rifle’s safety pin closes off the whole system with a turn of the catch. 100 percent safety guaranteed even with a fully loaded rifle. The locking surfaces are twice as large as with other repeaters. Security against gas pressure pushing the catch back is 100 percent.

Trigger? Fast enough? Twitchy finger? Or composure ...

The first double-barrel rifle with repeating system worldwide.

A superior system does not recognise nervousness. The skilful connoisseur handles his system coolly. But he is fast with the shot. The trigger is designed as a direct trigger. The double safety system prevents unwanted SIMULTANEOUS firing.

Never too early, never too late - that's an intelligent rifle.

Machined? Handmade? Mass-produced? Or a personal masterpiece.

Things are getting more and more standardised and more precise. People are becoming more alike. The desire for originality is increasing. The big game repeater combines the best of both worlds. Perfection with precision-engineered mechanical components - skilled craftsmanship in the assembly and finishing of an original product. People who want something special appreciate that perfection and craftsmanship go hand in hand.

Long-lasting stability. Better then other weapons? Stronger then strong?

Special Material ... or everything together?

1,100 newton self-hardening steel, impressive even in its untreated condition. When fully refined, the figure rises to 2,320 newton, twice as high as traditional repeaters. If you choose this sort of weapon, then you are the sort of person who wants the best.

The facts and figures of a masterpiece:
4-shot magazine capacity
6-shot total capacity
Removable magazine
Firing pin safety catch
Firing trigger
Octagonal barrels with express sighting
Round barrels with express sighting

Dimensions: Barrel length: 600 mm

Weight: 6.5 kg with octagonal barrels

Have seen and handled these at the Las Vegas show. An amazing achievment of design and workmanship ....... and completely ridiculous and impractical.

vigillinus,
Welcome, and yes I agree, what a strange "thing" it really is.

I've commented on this elswhere, but I must say it again here that the times quoted for getting shots away from that rifle are awfully bloody slow!

A wonderful salute to craftsmanship but in reality the name "Mickey Mouse" comes to mind.
