How important is the 'New' Barrel steel in a Double Rifle? At the pressures that a cartridge shoots does it mean anything, in reality?

Extra margin for error, at the very least. Peace of mind. Eliminates those little nagging thoughts in the back of the brain.

Some double owners I know have even resorted to X-raying their recent vintage acquisitions!
