50 AHR by Brockman-opinions??
      #54576 - 11/04/06 08:10 AM

I am considering having Brockman's Custom Gunsmithing build a open sighted 50 AHR bolt in their "working" package.

This version can be seen at -
http://www.brockmansrifles.com/working_rifle.asp

I am considering his ghost sight adjustable peep and a fiberoptic front sight.

Any feedback or problems regarding this gunsmith? All contacts have been positive to date. Other suggestions?

Ray Atkinson always spoke highly of them. I'm not sure is location influenced his opinions or not.

Isn't this a topic best posted on the Rifles or Big Bore Rifles forum?

Cpt. Curl--

Sir-
You are absolutely correct.

My confusion, my lapse, and I apologize for the error.

Its Monday and I am dazed and confused again!

Can this error be switched to a different forum by the administrators?

Sorry--

Jim is a College educated Gunsmith. Besides learning gunsmithing he had to take reading writing and arithmetic. They also required business, art and computer classes. That's where I met Jim.

Jim spent a year on a Fellowship in Germany where he worked in the Mauser custom shop. I wrote the resume for him that got him that fellowship. He met his wife on that fellowship, only resume I ever wrote that got a guy married.

He was the Gunsmith at KDF and later opened his own shop back in Idaho where he is from. Jim worked with Kissey Kimball, and studied under Bill Knectal and Ralph Bone.

He has my bluieng tanks and promises to never give them back.

From what I have seen of his work it is outstanding. He does the Marlin Rifle work to bring in income and make it possible to do the Custom rifle work.

I doubt you will be anything but happy with Jim's work.

I am not biased because Jim is my friend. I was in his shop last month and left some work with him because I trust him to do it right.

Almost $3000 for a CZ based laminated stock rifle?!?!?!

Check out rifleactions.com and have them build a synthetic stocked rifle for you on a proper action for about the same money. I know, some guys just have to see a wood stock of some sort but, in terms of value, Hein is tough to beat from what I see.

JMHO,

John
