Pitting on action
      #53997 - 03/04/06 06:14 PM

I am in a position to acquire a Westley Richards falling block actioned rifle (similar to a Farquharson) in 500 N.E., circa 1907. This rifle is a older restoration with shiny bluing and refinished stock. The barrel, however, is perfect and it is in excellent mechanical shape. It shoots great. Unfortunately there is some pitting on one side of the action, probadly from lying in a case for many years. Whilst the finishing and the stock can be sorted out by me, the pitting can't. Is there any way of welding up the pitting? Must the action be softened in such a process? If so, who can do this restoration work succesfully, preferably in Florida, U.S.A. area. Thanks, Charls.
