I wouldn't have risked the thing but I have heard pretty positive things about these conversions. I did hear about one that was a wreck: I hope this isn't the one! We'll all just have to wait and see: kind of like Christmas.

Will it be toys or a lump of coal?

Stay tuned!

Tinker,
I've read before where these 45-70 Ped doubles can be rechambered to 450 nitro cartridges and that they still regulate.
Whether they do or not I don't know.
These rifles are also supposed to have their barrels brazed together which pretty well rules out any chance that they were regulated in the traditional way.
It is also said that they cannot be re-regulated due to the brazed barrels.

If these rifles are originally only jig regulated, and they shoot well with 45-70, and they still shoot well with a 200 grain increase in bullet weight, I think it is amazing.

I wasn't having a go at you in any way.
Sorry if I ruffled your feathers as that was not my intention.

Cybercat-

I can remember christmases where I was wishing for and sorely in need of a lump of coal. Good for you a rifle's on it's way, regardless of it's state of tune!

470-

No ruffled feathers.
The forum member named 450no2NE (or some spelling to that effect) has posted some of his loads with that cartridge, he gets a pretty incredible range of usefulness out of the cartridge.
He and others have attributed the huge case volume to some extent of that feature of the chambering.

Any way it goes, I thought I'd be able to let you in on this amazing development deal...
