An introduction, a rifle and a question
      #51609 - 06/03/06 11:27 AM

Gents,

I'm a longtime lurker that has decided to finially quit peeking
thru your blinds and come in from the cold. About a year and a half ago I picked up this rifle(about the same length of time lurking) and am now getting geared up to start fooling with it.
It is a R.B. Rodda 450/400 BPE that was made for the Maharjah of Jodhpur. I've since discovered that this round, in it's blackpower guise, has a little bit of the red headed stepchild in it. Which leads to my problem--I can't find any NFB loads(have G Wright's book). Anyone out there with a helping hand? The rifle's case shows that it is set up for 110 grs. black and 230 gr. bullet.

Thanks, Rob

Wow,

I like that a lot!

Bring it on up to Virginia and we'll wring it out.

Wally,

Here is what I recommend. Load up a few cases with black or 777 and chronograph the loads. That will be your "target" velocity. I sugest that you use Varget for your NFB loads. I have found that about %60 load density is required to get on velocity. To determaine load density, fill up your case to the location of where the base of the bullet is after seating, then weigh it. This is %100 load density. I recommend you start at 50% with kapok or foam fillers. If it is "hot" drop 5 grains. If it is slow, keep adding 2 grains until she regulates. Don't exceed the target velocity by more than 100 fps.

This is my opinion. However, please seek another before proceeding.

Question: Are the barrels fluid steel or Damascus?
