All,

I have recently purchased a Manlicher 72 in 9.3x64. I am having a hard time tracking down ammo. Apparently, the company that was importing Norma ammo into the US is no longer doing so.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get some ammo? Anyone have any to sell?

Also, I am not sure what type of loads to shoot. The rifle will be used, primarily, for animals softer than buffalo.

Thanks,

BBB

Nice pick up. The 9.3 x 62 is rare in Manlicher's.

I think you may find it hard to get loaded ammo
as it was never as popular as the 9.3 x 62.

It is probably a reloading proposition.

Brass can be purchased from Huntingtons.

9.3 bullets are available from most of the US
Suppliers.

Suggest if not hunting DG, the 250gn bullets
should be good for you.

If and when you need load data, PM or repost me
and I'll give it to you.

Hope this helps.

I collect pre war MS's and I remember seeing that gun perhaps on Gun Broaker. A square makes ammo for it as well as RWS. Good luck

You could search out a supplier for RWS ammo. They make the 9.3X4 I believe.
: It is a near duplicate for factory .375H&H ballistics.
: A friend of mine has taken 2 plains buffalo with his 9.3X64 & 286gr. RWS ammo - easy one shot kills.

I feel your pain. I bought a Mauser 99 in 9.3x64 back before Christmas and just got around to trying to get brass. Huntington has none and has no idea when they'll see any. G-R-E-A-T.....

Well years ago I went throught he hassel of making some out of 45 basic brass. The problem was that the brass didn't hold up very well to the pressures involved. I got thr rifle cheap because it sat in the local gunshop for years and nobody wanted it.

I bought a couple hundred cases about a year ago. Sorry I don't have any to spare.

If you're really in a pinch you could try to fireform some 376 styer cases (it is merely a shortened 9.3x64). They are about 4 mm shorter than their parent case. It might be worth a try.

Found this, not sure if they actually have any or not though.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought 9.3X64 could be made from .376 Steyr brass. I heard they are the same case with the .376 necked up to take the larger bullets. Also you might want to cantact Peter Cardona at Quality Cartridge. He can get you anything with the correct head stamp. He was going to do the .450 Vincent for me. It was about $2.50 for each round but they would of been formed, trimmed, and correctly headstamped. His e-mail is abn82d@hotmail.com and his web site is http://www.qual-cart.com

Big Bore,

I saw this on another board. Not sure if you could talk the guy into selling you some. But if it is DWM brass it is good stuff.
