Rem 700 SPS
      #49102 - 03/02/06 08:38 PM

I was in Fisher Firearms yesterday looking at some rifles. The Rem 700 SPS particularly caught my eye. I love the synthetic stock. It's just a pity about the top load. Would get in the way with a scope. Anyone else got one of these? I was looking at getting it in either 22-250 or 243 cal. Anyone got opinions or advice on these? How do they shoot? Is a worthwhile purchase?

I have a 22-250 in a Rem. 700. With that I can put three bullets into a 1/2 circle at 200 yds. I'm sure the sps 700 is a real good gun in 22-250 or 243.

My 22-250 has killed many a groundhog. It will reach out and kill them. It's good for 400 yds on a windless day with a little hold over.

The 700 SPS replaced the ADL line of rifles. The SPS should be a great shooter most model 700's are. The SPS also comes in a detachable magazine configuration called the 700 SPS DM but the smallest caliber offered is the .243. It also comes in stainless.

Well now that I think about it I may go with the 700 SPS DM. The SPS was a bit wierd loading with the scope mounted. There is also the fact that I can load up a few magazines before we go out and just change. I'll probably go for that in .270 cal. Not a fan of stainless though. Too shiny.
