I think they might still be quite rare on the ground.
Considering the number of doubles sold a year is low in comparision in other rifles and most new double owners go for the .470.
Who currently makes the .500/.416? Krieghoff, Searcy but others ?
But I'm pretty sure the .500/.416 will be around and grow overtime. Myself I tossed up the idea of getting a Krieghoff in .500/.416 and added barrels (maybe a .500) later.
I really hoped to try out getting one regulated with open sights for a 400 gr load, and using a scope to setup a 300 or 350 gr plains game bullet for at least one of the barrels (if both barrels weren't going to be close enough). Add a shotgun barrel set and extremely versatile.

Blaser have a model S-2 Safari, in .500/416, .470NE and I believe .500NE. Some have commented about the "top-lip" on Blaser's Side-by-side rifles, but I don't see it (the "lip") as a problem. Robie J.
