Whitetail pre-rut is here!

The bucks have been on the move that past few hunts. I have passed on 14 different bucks now while holding out for the big boy I have seen a few times.........of course out of boy range LOL. He has been using a trail in heavy cover when I have seen him so I will be moving stand locations for the morning. A cold front is coming in and I hope this will make him move during daylight.

The bucks have been running into do bedding areas and breaking them up. They are ready for mating but most of the ladies are not While they are on the move like this they are the easiest to hunt as far as I can tell. Over the past 12 years I have taken all my bucks in this phase.....the pre-rut. I actually prefer this time to the rut itself.

Get ready for some action!

I am still holding out for one of the brusiers. I have not had them come within bow range as of yet. Hopefully I can get soime time off this week and head out.

In the mean time I took another doe this past week. They taste great, are good practice and harvesting them keps the Buck/doe relationship in check!
