I particularly want side views of the forend and action.

A good Chrissie present for the missus might have been Wal Winfer's books "The British Single Shot Rifle", Vol.2 Gibbs, Vol.3 Jeffery, Vol.5 H&H.

All chock-full of pictures of original vintage Farkies.

That one on the Hallowell link is very recent (1993), stocked high for a scope, and many of those pictured on the 'net have been restocked with little regard for the original lines.

There is that famous photo of Selous at day's end on the veldt, updating his journal, with a couple of bustards and one of his Gibbs Farquharsons leaning against the bullock-cart. It's reproduced in Boddington's 'Safari Rifles' for one, rather poorly, but clearly shows the lines of an original Gibbs stock.

I did need a handmade knife by Paul Gertz with an Usik handle.

Well, I hope the missus likes her new knife!

Just realized I have erred: Boddington did refer to that Selous rifle as a Gibbs farquharson, but I just remembered it was in fact a Holland & Woodward No.1 or No.2 pattern. Same elegant stock-lines, though.

Bottom gun looks like a Field action. I think these are superior to a Farquharson for a hunting rifle - very quick working for a SS.

I just bought the damn thing. Can anybody make suggestions on loading for a .360 chambered by Westley Richards?

Here is one that I am lucky to own: It's based on a Webley 1902 action, retailed by Rigby. Rigby only made 44 of these. It was delivered on Nov 4th 1903 to Lt Col V M Stockley author of the 1913 book "Big Game Shooting in Burma, India and Sommaliland". Caliber is 400/350 NE. It also has the original scope mounts numbered to the gun. I only wish I had the case as well.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Barrel length is 27”, stock 14.5”, weight is 8lbs 6oz. It's marked “Special 350 Bore Rifle” and “For Special Cordite Cartridges Bullet 310 grains”. I have some old Kynoch 310gr solids that I put through it now and then. I'll shoot a side view pic tomorrow but here is one more of the other side that I have.
