I have not been around in a while, my 8x57r Sauer scalloped box lock was stolen in the late summer. I've just been to depressed on the subject of doubles to post.
It was the first year I did not get a deer with in in 11 years.
It's a nice 20's gun with RJ engraved in the trigger guard. Light 40-50% engraving in a plain kind of way german border motife. It also has a peep sight, with a GOB signed in the scroll on the bottom of the action. If any one see's it I'll pay what ever to get it back and worry about the law breakers later.
It was stolen in central quebec so I don't really think it will surfice, but maybe.
A once proud double owner,
Rell

I'm sorry for your loss. Maybe our Canadian brethren can keep an eye out for it. A pic or two may help

Man, bummer. Post a picture and pertinent identifying details and I'm sure the Canadians on the Forum will keep an eye open at gunshows and such. You never know.
I'm assuming you reported it to the Mounties?

Maybe posting the serial number would help. I assume you alerted the authorities, both in Canada and the US, yes?
Sorry to hear about your loss.

Rell, that sucks. Sorry to hear that.
I've never had one stolen (knock on wood), but I also keep them insured.
I've never made a cliam, but do use these guys and understand that they are quick to pay.
Annual premiums are $1.25 per $100 insured.

If you have any photographs, yes please post them. I will see if they can be kept accessible over time on the forums.

I'm sorry to hear about your rifle. Doubles are pretty rare up here but I'll keep an eye open for it at the shows. I would also phone the Canadian Firearms Center and pass on the info in case someone tries to put it in the system. 1-800-731-4000.

Thanks for the sympathy guys> I reported it and the serial numbers. My insurance company says I can't post serials, they only go to QPP and Mounties.
I figure that the engraved initails and stuff make it pretty plain. I would certainly think about insurance sspecifically next time.

Did they say anything about sharing the serial number with colleagues via Private Messages?

I feel for you, For years I had been looking for an affordable Mannlicher Schoenauer and finally found one in 1998 in 30/06, serial no 181931, located a 3-9 Pecar for the claw mounts and had it all set up to go red deer hunting in Queensland. The house I was visiting at in Darwin, prior to flying to Queensland was the subject of an unlawful entry and it was gone along with several thousand dollars worth of cameras, hunting gear etc.
Hate thieves the low lives.
cheers

Rell, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I would suggest you get photos and descriptions out to contacts in the U.S. In the U.S. we have a program called N.C.I.C. (national crime information center). Stolen property is listed by serial number and description there. Canada has a similar program, however if an item is queried in the U.S. NCIC it will not automaticly querie Canada. It has to be queried seperately and is unlikely to occur, unless there was some reason to believe it was stolen from Canada. It would seem that anyone trying to sell your gun would likely take it to the US. You may want to speak with the investigating officer about having it listed NCIC if possible. good luck
