I just got a new A.S.T.AR 45-70 DR. Possibly made in Spain. It's not a 'Best quality' by any means but I want a working gun for our area. This looks like it'll fit the bill if it'll shoot straight. My question is has anyone ever heard of them and basicly tell me anything you can. I'll have a chance to test in soon IF it stops snowing.. Mike

After some web surfing I found out that ASTAR is a fairly new company when STAR fire arms of Eibar,Spain was bought out by Astra. Possibly from a bankrupcy. I haven't found out much else though. The man I bought it from got 8 of them thru a dealer in the Czech Rep. Star's website doesn't show much.

There were 8 imported several years ago. I got the one the importer kept for himself because it had nicer wood. I did take some pics today and IF I figure out how to post pics here I will do some tomarrow. The price wasn't bad either. Not as much as a H&H but more than a Marlin.
