Hunting boar and deer in Pa.
      #41866 - 18/11/05 08:24 AM

We went hunting on a preserve last week. The preserve is located on the Pa. Md. border. We were 12 guys and hunted boar, whitetail, turkey and some exotics as well.
I used my Krieghoff double in 7X65R for the first time what a blast.

The tools:

Me and my whitetail:

My son and his boar:

My future son in law

My buddie Glenn:

Me and my fallow deer:

Very nice -- thanks for posting. I like the picture with three different rifles, three different action types.

I have to say that Glenn seems to be having the most fun based on the size of his smile.

Edited: Although your smile is pretty broad as well.

Thanks Charles...We all smiled a lot. Last year I went to Montana on a Elk and mule deer hunt with three guys and all I got was a one week hike thru the Bitteroot mountains.
All of our pockets came back a lot lighter, and no meat! So I guess my smile is well earned on this trip. We had our Ford F-250's loaded down with plenty of food for our friends and family!

Glenn

Foxie,

Nice pix and guns. Did you get the LF 412 stock? If you weren't one of those freak southpaws I'd have to find a way to do you out of that 7X65R.

Luv2safari,
This was my first hunt with my double. I'm in love with it's looks, form and function. Now I'm a double gun addict like the rest of you guys here.

Looks like you guys had a great time.

What were the ranges of the shots you all took?

Love your rifle.

See your PM

JPK

JPK,
I'd say that most of the whitetail were in that 50 to 100 yard range in the woods. My Fallow was shot at just under 150 yards. The boar are walk and stalk so most shots were under 50 yards and you never knew where they would be. The rams, elk and buffalo that were shot were in the 100 to 150 yard range as they were in the flats or fields.

I can't wait to go back again.
