GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
      #41417 - 13/11/05 11:28 AM

I am not having a good deer season so far. Because of my job I don't get out as much as I used to, shoulda never taken the promotion! My bosses don't appreciate me either!

Anyway, when I can get out all I see are button bucks, spikes and forkies, so in a nut shell, fawns and yearlings. No mature does and NO mature bucks. Had a big bodied spike buck in front of me last night, he nearly got an arrow except a big tree saved his butt. Serendipity I guess, he wasn't meant to be. Tonight it was button buck, he walked again. I just can't shoot them.

This is dismal. Each time one of them walks away I see images of steaks smothered in garlic on the grill.

So far this has been bow season. Firearms starts on the 15th here (Tuesday) and it is usually a circus since 7 million people decend upon the Michigan countryside to hunt deer. All on one day!

We call it the orange army.

It does make the deer move only because it is a shooting gallery out there so it really isn't hunting.

I just want some meat for the freezer. I am going up to one of the "boyfriend's" property tomorrow to try and kill some of his does. He doesn't like venison except the sausage ( I think there is something wrong with this boy).

Does anyone feel sorry for me yet????????

Nope don't feel sorry for you one bit. In September I had to cancel my November trip to Missouri to hunt, because of my imminent transfer to South Africa.

Well Missouri season opened this morning and here I sit in Virginia waiting for the wife to get her final medical test Monday morning. Then we can go to South Africa,

This after two busted years of going to South Carolina Deer factories and no venison.

Why did I ever leave Montana three years ago.

Nope don't feel sorry for you at all!

The same goes for me. I've heard that whitetail tastes a lot better than mulies, but I have not taken one yet.

Sorry for you?

Nah.

Perhaps even a little jealous.
With the little four month infant around here I haven't even been able to get out to the ranch to shoot let alone hunt.

Good for you getting out and being there to miss a chance at a shot.

Ann,

Well damn, none of these other jackasses have had sensitivity training.

I can feel your pain, and my heart goes out to you. May your next hunt provide a 12 point monster!

But I want to point out that those young deer sure do eat a lot better than those old gnarly wall-hangers.

Regards,
Curl

Ann,

I would be one of those jackasses w/no sensitivity training as I got out before they started doing such things to officers.....one of these days, you'll realize the error of your ways and move up here to God's country where you don't have to share the countryside w/7 million other souls......hell, my wife, a devoted non-hunter for her entire life, has even started hunting after all these years......this place has a funny effect on folks.

Nope, don't feel sorry for you a bit..........

Joe,

If a job were available I'd be moving your way in a minute. The fishing alone is good enough to attract me let alone the awesome hunting.

It's been a shooting gallery here today. No deer for me yet, we are in the middle of a big storm to come through with high winds and snow. Right now it is just rainy.

Ann,

The UPS guy just dropped off 60lbs of sheep sausage and jerky sticks.........the first bite tonight will be for you.

Really do hope you have a great season and get that buck you want.
