Please post inentions ON THIS FORUM
and closer to the time we will do a collective email to

Sounds good, I haven't been to the show for years. I'll see what it looks like in January.

I think it is only fair to have Mehul mix them. It would be nice if he could come also. I could bring a rifle for a bit of shoot if anyone know where to do it at.

The Antique Arms Show is Feb 10 - 12, 2006 at Mandalay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

You can view the website at this URL.

I plan to be there, and you can bet I will bend an elbow.

Mickey,

A shooting range I think exists in LV where you can hire
all the naughty things we aren't allowed over here. I am not
sure if they will let you shoot a Big Bore double though !!!

Re the drinks, did I see you mention somewhere that you
were shouting everyones drinks for the night !
(that should generate some more interest)

Who do I look like, Judge G?

Hey let's invite Judge G.

I have a good friend that lives in Vegas. He could probably set up a group dinner in a private room if we wanted.

Mickey,

Re group dinner in a private room if we wanted.

It may well be needed as both the Shot Show and
the LV Antique Arms show are both on at the same
time so we will have to book ahead even if it is
just a table in a Restaurant.

Yeah, invite Judge G - what about Ray.

500Nitro,

Las Vegas has plenty of facilities to accommodate the two shows and much more. Have you been there? The whole city is geared to hospitality. We should have no trouble finding a restaurant, etc.

I think this is the place you were referring to that rents machine guns to shoot, etc.

The Gun Store - Las Vegas

See you there!

CptCurl,

Yes, have been to LV twice.

Have been to the Antique arms fair once and
the Shot Show twice.

I agree that there are lots of facilities but when the Shot Show
is on it is harder to book bigger tables for long dinners - they
like you in and out.

Then again, I tend to stay on the "Strip" and not venture far
away from the main places so local help would be good.

Re The Gun Store - Las Vegas - I think that is the place.

Mickey - what gun will you bring ?

I'll be there with a table at the Beinfeld Show. I'll have a Searcy or two there and will invite Butch (if he doesn't have a table himself) who is not far away in Boron, Ca. His shop is a great visit for anyone going to Vegas.

I might add that there is an incredible wildlife display at the Bass Pro Shop in Vegas. This is not a lil shop but a HUGE extravaganza. Multiple African game in scenes quite unbelieveable. Don't miss this place.

Purdey and H&H are always there at the Beinfeld show. German gunmakers, too. Best show in the world.

There is an unfortunate side to Vegas. There will be ads by unfortunate young women who cannot afford but the skimpiest of clothes. You would think that churches would take care of these young waifs, but there may be too many to help. The photos of these poor young things just wants to make you hold them close and take them home.

I will be there (of course I live in Vegas). Look forward to meeting you. I belong to a gun club here if you want to shoot. The Mandaly Bay has several drinking establishments in it that should serve the purpose.

Pete,

If the young women spent more on clothes and less on business cards
they'd be OK.

All I ever remember is that the cards are plastered everywhere you go
outside of the main strip and IMHO it made LV look messy.

Just returned from LV. My son and I visited the Gun Store. I tried the Thompson M1A1 and my son used the H&K MP5. It's a lot of fun for us Australians that don't have access to these firearms. However, the range officers insist to mount the targets upside down (Bin Laden and Saddam) because of muzzle rise. The idea being that muzzle rise will place rounds in the body area. This made little difference to us as we hit what we aimed at.

Peterb,

How do you think the Beinfeld show has been affected by the relocation to Mandalay Bay from the Riviera? I have heard a number of complaints. It appeared to me that the number of displays was down last January.

I would be interested to hear your comments or comments from others who attend this show.

Thanks,
Curl

The Vegas show has never been very vendor friendly, but last time was absolutely horrific. The Mandalay Bay people were complete assholes. Furthermore, the show was on an upper level and the ramp was very steep and high. A second show was also going on so the ramp space was VERY limited. I got there an hour before setup time and waited 3 hours in line. When I finally got up on top the Mandalay people ORDERED us to leave our keys in our vehicles as we went inside to find our spaces. Naturally we said we would then locked our vehicles as we were not nuts. Going inside, we were showed our table spaces but then arguments insued between the show people as to whether we could unload to our tables before we got our badges. To get badges, you were NOT allowed to simply go through the doors to the badge area. You had to go downstairs and all the way to the front and then somehow find your way with poor signs to get to the badge area again. This, of course, delays everyone else unloading. I said I don't need no stinkin badge and some dildo trying to keep me from unloading didn't want my foot down his throat so he went somewhere to bully someone else.

These problems will not be there this time as the show will be on the ground level and we can cart right from the parking lot. The area is bigger than the Riviera and all three shows will be under the same roof.

This is the best gun show in the world. Want to order a gun from Purdey, H&H, or some Austrian custom outfit? They will be there! Want to see what a 4 gauge looks like? There will likely be at least a dozen single and doubles there. New guns, the finest antique guns of all time, and about anything else you can think of will be there. Best of all, I'll be there with fine gunstock wood and a couple Searcy double rifles.

I forgot that they moved locations. I went to the show at the Riviera.

winmar,

That's crazy putting the targets upside down. It only take a few minutes
of instruction to teach someone how to stop muzzle rise or you can always
"walk" the bullets up to the target.

I used to get people to aim front left foot and the bullets would stitch
the body from left foot, through the crotch to the right shoulder.
Always looked good.

Pity the H&K MP5 didn't have the 3 round burst on it. It's one
of the best features ever.

Well, a least we'll have some fun.

Is this a better show than the one that is coming up at Dallas?

Will there be more DR's for sale here than at the up comming Dalas Show?

The SCI in Reno in Jan is very good, but Vegas will have many more classic and used doubles as well as new guns

Peterb,

I am glad to hear that they have worked out the issues at Mandalay Bay. That will help things a lot.

It is also good that the Antique Arms Show doesn't conflict with the SCI Show at Reno this year. For some reason the dolts scheduled the two shows on the same weekend last year.

I agree that this is the best show going.

I live in Bend, Oregon. You are thinking of Cecil Freddie. I hear he is a good guy. He wrote me a nice email about liking my articles on my site. I have articles on how to pick wood, wood qualities, how to finish, etc. Read them if you are going to do any customizing.
